Naperville is a gold standard community, deservedly recognized nationwide for its high quality of life in so many aspects. However, a long term commitment to acquiring our energy from a supplier that depends very heavily on burning coal seems equal neither to our city’s mission nor its reputation. Moving in the near term to any decision to renew (or not!) that commitment for many years beyond 2035 seems unnecessary at this time. Further study of science-based data is clearly needed.
